Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors around the world. While gambling on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found wagering on online poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
