Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
