NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 in which he loved betting on various card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming very aggressive in these card games while competing against his dad. After graduating from Sr. High school, Howard made a decision to put higher education on hold for a little bit and relocated to New York City to play some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s 1st 2 years were rough as he played countless hours and do not win most times. He made some additional cash by being an runner for the poker players. He theorized he might improve his game by adjusting his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to get more rest and concentrate more on the game.

The real improvement in his game began when he began gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon association where the best players would often wager against one another. He had access into several of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, he would hone his strategic thinking skills. He used these strategy ideas in the game of No-Limit hold’em.

Howard also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn poker. Annie was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. Howard told Annie Duke to head out to Vegas and play in the WSOP tournaments. Annie Duke is one of the best female players the poker world ever. Howard relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the next 10 years. When the World Poker Tournament grew in popularity, he made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
