Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the customary 52-card standard deck and one joker. The player is dealt seven cards faces showing and the casino is given seven cards faces hidden.
A five card hand and a 2 card hand must be made from the seven cards, the 5 card hand has to be stronger than the 2 card hand. To win, a player needs both of his hand values to be larger than the houses.
