Web Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an excellent poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amount. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in net poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
